About us
Every year, Albania transforms into a vibrant stage for the International Dance Festival of Tirana (IDFT), attracting artists, choreographers, and dance enthusiasts from all over the world to the country’s capital. Renowned for its boldness and innovation, the festival offers a unique platform where traditional expressions meet cutting-edge contemporary forms.
The 4th edition of IDFT will run from October 8th to October 25th : Over the course of these three weeks, IDFT will present a program featuring eminent European and Albanian companies and choreographers, alongside innovative performances showcasing the choreographers of tomorrow.
Angelin Preljocaj, the Franco-Albanian choreographer and artistic director of the festival, is dedicated to promoting the art of dance throughout Albania. His clear objective is to establish Tirana as a European capital and a hub for contemporary dance within the next five years, affirming the country’s cultural heritage on the international stage.
With the aim of offering an immersive and inclusive experience, performances will take place in various emblematic venues: National Theater of Opera and Ballet, National Theatre of Albania Arturbina, Skanderbeg Square, the Pyramid, and Vila 31. This year, the festival breaks free from traditional stages to bring dance into the vibrant streets of Tirana, with “GUID” and “The Hip Hop participative project”, the city itself becomes a stage.
